The Inward Journey……(reflections of a soul)

The soul very much like a hungry caterpillar begins to feed on every experience once it incarnates and remains incapable of discriminating between what is real and what is imagined. The world of thoughts and emotions are what the soul feeds on without being able to discriminate. After a point when it can no longer feed on these the higher consciousness sends in a series of signals that tear this veil of illusion and lead the hungry “caterpillar” into its most significant battle…..the one with itself. The battle initially seems to the world of reason as a “hanging upside down”, avoiding everyone phase. This is when it begins to shed its spikes or the defensive patterns developed to protect itself from potentially painful people and situations. It then forms a cocoon to protect itself from the world of reason and emotion to one of inner wisdom. The transformation is far from radical. It is one of the most painful phases where it digests itself and retains a few “Imaginal discs” that become capable of becoming organs in its journey as a butterfly later. Destroying oneself is the truest form of enlightenment……it involves shedding patterns, letting go of attachments and being vulnerable to imperfections inherent in the human incarnation. The imaginal discs are the deep-seated spiritual shields that help us develop ways to receive, understand, assimilate, circulate and eliminate further life lessons, emotions and thoughts similar to how the imaginal discs help a caterpillar develop the organs for a butterfly. But the inward journey becomes complete only when the wings open out and help the butterfly let go of its existence on the ground or the twig it sought security from. The wings symbolize the ability to move mindfully from flower to flower taking in nectar and spreading growth and fruitfulness in return like butterflies pollinate and help flowers become fruits. The soul learns to let go of notions of health, family, career, finance, relationships and all the twigs it sought support from with the faith that the wings can carry it further…to life experiences as precious as nectar, free from attachment but with the deeper goal of realising our interconnectedness in giving and receiving (not hoarding or grabbing) in assisting other sentient beings to also reach their highest fruition. My inward journey has been very insightful indeed.
